I am setting up my Main menu. I wanted a link for Posts in the header within the main menu. I have done something illogical since the link just loops back to the Homepage. Is it appropriate to have a Post link there on a business site?

Also, when creating Pages, does this make sense? …./Services/Consultation; …./Services/Presentation; …./Services/Cart. I was looking at your example and picked up “Services” from there.

The Cart will sell books and other items.

This really depends on your content.

So if both of those services have a lot of information to place in the pages – then yes, break them apart into two pages.

But if you have very little content, having them on one page can serve you well. The goal is to ensure that when someone lands on a page that they are not confused or overwhelmed. Let them make sense of your offerings.

In terms of “cart” – no that doesn’t make a lot of sense. People associate “cart” with the final step of payment. So I would advise that you label that page “books” or something that will let people instantly know what they will find for sale there.

And I would not make it a sub-item of services, because it is not really a service – so in my mind it is a stand-alone menu item 🙂

Yes is it typical to put a link to your Blog Post “archive” into the menu. So my main question is: have you

    • created a blog page
    • and then set it as the “archive” within WordPress?

You do that within Customizer > Homepage Settings.
And in that same place within the customizer you can tell WordPress which page should be your homepage as well (if you have crafted one out).

I don’t understand. I have many blog posts. sometimes I see them featured on one page, but then I did something wrong when putting a link on the homepage.

I’m still working on it but I still haven’t figured out how to link the posts to the page which I have now named “Commentary”

The link was partially obscured from view. I noticed how the page link (no matter what I named it) wasn’t anything other than the homepage when clicked. The process of opening the latest post and copying that link at that page, then inserting it in the right place helped me. I didn’t realize the end of the link shown was incomplete. Somehow I thought the software could read my mind, I suppose.

I’m now trying to clean up my abundant mess for post categorizing when I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I have Astra and Astra Child. I have spent hours trying to clean up my categories which started about 30 years ago on .org and some got transferred over to the business site. I cannot navigate thins thing to clean this mess up. I have spent the long weekend creating a Yoast SEO optimized page to link with the business perspective, and all I have left is the categorization part (and the tags). Help!

Do you have a site where I can take a look at it? That would make it a bit easier for me to understand 🙂
